VITALITY-friend and co-founder Mike Eck had a dream to begin gleaning in the Cincinnati area.

What’s gleaning?

Imagine thousands and thousands of pounds of local, farm-fresh food being harvested by volunteers and driven to soup-kitchens and food pantries and La Soupe, and now nourishing people with some of the best food on the planet.  Often without those volunteers, those thousands of pounds of food go to waste.

Thanks to Mike’s vision, gleaning was begun just a few years ago in Cincinnati and now VITALITY-friend Sue Plummer has a full-time position organizing tri-state volunteers and our yoga-friend Fran helps out too, both of them paid by the Society of St. Andrew, the national gleaning network.  You can reach out to Sue through the website to get involved!

And at tonight’s talk you can also hear from the great Mary Laymon, a longtime friend of VITALITY.  Many of our yoga-grads have shared yoga and gardening at her beautiful Tikkun Farm.

What wonders can come about among a circle of friends!
