200-Hour Yoga

Our Yoga/Healing Touch Internship gives people an opportunity to become a Yoga Alliance registered yoga teacher and a Healing Touch student-practitioner.   Since January 2015, our 200-hour Yoga/Healing Touch Internships have been offered in neighborhoods, community-organizing from the inside-out, you might say.  Walnut Hills was our first opportunity - we were very excited about working together with the Walnut Hills Redevelopment Foundation, Elevate Walnut Hills, Healing for Humanity/Dillard Center, and Interact for Health through their Thriving Communities Walnut Hills grant.  In May 2017, we are proud to offer the opportunity in Winton Hills!

General Information about our 200-hour Yoga/Healing Touch Internships

We train interns in teaching three levels of yoga:  Myofascial-Minded Modified Primary Series, Gentle Yoga, and Chair Yoga.  We employ ashtanga principles to the teaching of all three levels, and the focus is on finding ways to modify the practice for any student who comes our way.  While we teach the Sanskrit origins of the yoga practice, we encourage our interns to find a voice that is comfortable for themselves and their students.  Our program is registered with Yoga Alliance as a 200-hour yoga teacher training program.

Interns also have the opportunity to complete Healing Touch Levels 1 - 3, even more tools to work with people through hands-on energy work or through using some of the meditations of Healing Touch Program in their yoga classes.

A program like this would ordinarily cost $2500 or more.  We are able to offer it for a very low cost (25 cents a week) because we ask our interns to offer their time and talent in teaching our classes as they become ready.  We offer two hundred hours of training and expect two hundred hours of give-back:  one hundred hours assisting in the community gardens and another one hundred hours in teaching our yoga classes and in offering Healing Touch at our regular and special sessions.  Interns usually pick one afternoon or evening a week to complete their give-back hours and then volunteer when they can at our special events.
